Credit Card Debt
Do you manage to be current on your credit card payments and reduce your debt-balances?
Or have you already slipped slowly into debt, getting into deep financial troubles?
Or have you arrived there abruptly after a spending spree that has buried you in credit card debt?
Is it usual that you cause yourself stress due to your own wrong financial decisions?
Do you really want to do something against it?

If you are already in a credit card debt you have to know what your chances and possibilities are to get out of it.
Most of us use credit cards because of their convenience and safety. We don’t have to take care of our cash that is more easily lost. Credit cards also have the benefit of passing money easily whom we want, even if they are far from us. Another benefit might be to lodge credit for future purchases. However, this advantageous financial possibility often causes more problems than it is worth.

The first useful rule is not to consider and use a credit card as extra money you have to spend. Try to economize money using your current funds and monthly budget. Also, you should read everything from the contract, even the fine print, and ask questions if something is not clear.
The truth is that handing a credit card is expensive precisely because of the high interest rates and the administrative fees. That’s why the most important for you is to know the interests and other fees, as well as the terms and conditions. Be sure you accept the best existing offer!

Second, in order to control your personal finances you need a deep reconsideration. You need time and a well-thought organization to have an effective management of your finances. Before all, you need a certain symbolic ‘wake up call’ that gives you an impulse of responsibility. After getting the ‘call’, you should take a look at the several ways to get out of the debt management problem. Choosing a third party help might be a good idea for you to follow. At first, try to consider debt consolidation, as this might provide you lower interest rates. This is possible by transferring all your credit card debt into a single bank loan which proposes lower interest rates. The other makeshift to pay off your debt would be a debt management service. This helps you eliminate credit card debt with settlements, debt negotiation strategies, and debt consolidation.

An efficient credit card debt management should start with listing all of your present credit cards with the outstanding balance, the interest rates and the annual fees for each of them, as well as the minimum repayment you have to make for each. Pay the compulsory minimum to each of your credit cards and with the extra money you have (after reducing your primary living costs) pay the credit card with the highest rates. For this purpose try to allocate as much money of your monthly budget as you can. But be reasonable and don’t recourse to extra credits again! Repeating this repayment plan advisedly, you can successfully eliminate your credit card debt. Nevertheless, this elimination plan is not effective if you use your credit cards in the meantime. In this case, the above-described process will be much longer. All in all, if you’re strong and persevering enough, you can finally become debt-free!

Try to find the low interest cards! It is important for you to shift all the debt you have to that particular card that charges the lowest rate of interest. Don’t forget to check that the low interest rates last for a long time, as more and more credit card companies make changes that could greatly affect you. So be aware of all the changes, including the increase of interest rates, or charges if exceeding the credit limit. Otherwise you can end up not only having a maxed out credit card but also other fees to pay. So it is useful to know your credit limit and always keep your balance lower than this amount. It is also reasonable that you do not take your credit card with you, and use cash as a substitute. In this way you can limit your spending, and step by step you can change your credit card habits. Use credit cards only in emergency situations. Officially eliminate those cards that you do not use!  Another important issue is not letting your credit limit increase by the credit card company. This is not good as it helps you build debt. Finally, don’t forget to pay more monthly than the indicated minimum is. It will not be possible to become debt-free without doing this. If this seems impossible, then look for a professional help.

What is ‘professional’ debt assistance? There are two types you should really consider: credit counselling and debt settlement. The first one specifically helps you to lower your interest rates. This is a credit card debt management that usually reduces your monthly payments, and you can become debt-free within three to five years. Before registering, inform about the credit card service, and ask as many questions as possible in order to avoid the future inconveniences! Debt settlement’s primary aim is also to reduce your credit card debt and in this way to help you get you out of your debt fast. Also known as debt negotiation, debt settlement can help you reach this aim within one to three years, as it reduces your overall balance by 40-60%, and in this way lowers your monthly payments to a great extent. This implies, however, the need to save money more dramatically. Nevertheless, it is typically a single available debt option for those who have a lot of debt and are considering filing bankruptcy. When choosing between debt settlement and credit counselling, you should consider your targets and situation. If your primary goal is to get out of debt fast, then debt settlement is probably a better option. That’s the case also with bad or old debt. On the other hand, credit counselling, is a safer option.

Getting rid of credit card debt is not as easy as you may think, and is not a quick process either. As the debt builds, you have to pay higher interest rates, so the debt gets more and more difficult to eliminate. So have a plan! This includes that you know how much is your credit card debt, and what are your plans to eliminate it. Don’t give up too easy and avoid filing for bankruptcy. Consider all your other options instead, such as credit counselling and debt settlement! This article presented some tips and tricks and following these you can gain back control over your personal finances.
